to decorate these stunning earrings or a delightful seashell pin!
Seashell Earrings
Materials Needed
1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp #089 – Seashell
100% cotton linter) (Rycraft Cotton Linter)
2 paper castings* of design #089 – Seashell (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions)
Clear acrylic varnish
Acrylic paints of your choice (we used pearlescent white, pink)
1 pair earring findings
Irredescent clear glitter (fine)
Glue
*Note: Alternately, the castings for this project may be made from clay instead of paper (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions).
Instructions
1. Cut the seashell design out of each casting. Below are examples of 2 sizes of seashell cut-outs.
2. Varnish the 2 seashell cut-outs on both sides (one side at a time) and let dry to prevent the paint from turning the casting back into mushy pulp.
3. Paint front of castings with pearlescent white paint and let dry. Then apply pink paint to one edge of casting as shown below…
… or use your imagination to create another color scheme. A couple of ideas are shown below.
4. Apply a coat of varnish to castings and apply glitter while varnish is still wet. Let dry.
5. Optional: Apply another coat of varnish to front and back of each casting for more permanence.
6. Glue findings to backs of castings.
