Materials Needed

1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp each: #223 – Basket Heart

Clay – we recommend Creative Paperclay® which is non-toxic and air dries to a paintable white

1 clay casting* #223 – Basket Heart (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions)

Scallop cookie cutter

Sandpaper or emery board

Acrylic primer

Acrylic paints: red, brown

4 red satin mini bows for corners of doily

1 square stiffened doily (see How to Stiffen Doilies under Optional Techniques) or round doily if you prefer.

Hot glue and/or tacky glue

1/8″ red satin ribbon for hanger (or floral wire, gold cord, or fishing line)

*Note: Alternately, the casting for this project may be made from paper instead of clay (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions).

Instructions

1.  While clay is still wet, cut out casting using scallop cookie cutter. Let dry and sand rough edges smooth.

2.  Apply a coat of primer and let dry.

3.  Apply brown paint to background around the heart and in some parts of the heart design (as shown) and let dry. Then apply the red paint and let dry. Brush off some of the paint before it dries to get the appearance shown on the edges of the heart.

4.  Hot glue the casting to the center of stiffened doily as shown.

5.  Glue mini bows to corners of doily.

6.  Make a loop of the red ribbon and tie a knot, then glue the hanger to the back of the doily at the top corner as shown.
