Magnet made with painted clay casting of Rycraft cookie stamp #384 DAD

Materials Needed

1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp each: #384 – DAD

Clay – we recommend Creative Paperclay® which is non-toxic and air dries to a paintable white

1 clay casting* #384 – DAD (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions)

1 2″ diameter round cookie cutter

Sandpaper or emery board

Acrylic primer (optional)

Acrylic clear varnish (optional)

Acrylic paints: ivory, dark brown, rust, red (or whatever colors you like)

Hot glue or tacky glue

1 magnet (from craft store)

*Note: Alternately, the casting for this project may be made from paper instead of clay (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions).

Instructions

1.  While clay is still wet, cut out casting using cookie cutter. Let dry.

2.  Sand rough edges smooth.

3.  Optional: Apply primer and let dry.

4.  Apply ivory paint to background and let dry. Apply colors to design (as shown), one color at a time, and let dry.

5.  Optional: Apply a coat of varnish for permanence. Note: Varnish will leave a more glossy finish.

6.  Use hot glue to attach magnet to back.
